How do I save the memorandum and/or DA6 as PDF file for emailing, etc.?

AutoDutyPRO (the program itself) does not have the capability built-in to create the memorandum and DA6 printouts as PDF files, or any other format that would allow for the information to be digitally archived or emailed.

We have developed a work-around for this issue, which requires installing a virtual PDF printer into your system. If you are using a military computer, you will need to involve your S6/IMO/Administrator to do this for you. If you are using AutoDutyPRO on your personal computer, you should have no difficulty installing this.

With the AutoDutyPRO virtual printer installed on your computer, all roster memorandums and DA6s will be saved on your computers as PDF files.

To get started, click here to download the installer for the virtual printer:
Download AutoDutyProPDF

Once downloaded to your computer, open it and click the UNZIP button to extract to a folder on your computer.

After the unzip process is finished, click CLOSE, and then navigate to the folder that was just created and run the SETUP program.

Proceed through the wizard, accepting the defaults from the SETUP program.

After the install is finished, you may need to reboot your computer. Please do so.

You should now have a new printer in your system, called AutoDutyPROPDF. This is not a physical printer. It is virtual. This printer has been designed so that anything printed to it will be saved to your computer as a PDF document.

Before starting AutoDutyPRO, you will need to make this printer your default Windows printer (right-click the printer, and choose 'Set as default'). If AutoDutyPRO is already running, you will need to exit and restart it. This is because AutoDutyPRO always prints the memorandum and DA6 to the default printer -- you are not given a choice to change that when calculating the rosters.

Start AutoDutyPRO.

When calculating rosters, the memorandum and DA6 printout will now be printed as PDF files. For each roster, you will be prompted for a name and location to save the PDF. Usually, the defaults will work as the name will indicate the roster, roles, and dates you calculated for.

Once the documents are printed (i.e., "saved"), you can view them, email them, etc.

If you have trouble with any part of this process, please let us know.
