How do I transfer AutoDutyPRO to a new computer?

Previous versions of AutoDutyPRO required the program to be LOCKED before moving it to a new computer. This is no longer necessary or required.

Since locking is not required, there are only three steps to transfer AutoDutyPRO to a new computer:

STEP 1 - BACKUP CURRENT DATA (if applicable)

The first step is to ensure you have a backup of the current data, unless the user on the new computer will be starting from scratch.

On the old computer, create the backup:

1. In AutoDutyPRO, click the TOOLS section, and then choose the BACKUP DATA icon.

2. Browse to a location to store the backup file. The name of the backup will be in the format of 'unit name - date' with an extension of abk.

The location for the backup file should be removable media (CD, flash drive) or a shared network location. The backup should be reachable from the new computer/profile, once it is setup.

STEP 2 - INSTALL/UNLOCK SOFTWARE ON NEW COMPUTER

The second step is to be sure you have installed the latest version of the software and unlocked it, according to the instructions here:

Unlock AutoDutyPRO

STEP 3 - RESTORE DATA (if applicable)

Once those steps are completed, the third step is for the end-user to login, start AutoDutyPRO, and restore their data.

1. In AutoDutyPRO, click the TOOLS section, and then scroll down and choose the RESTORE DATA icon.

2. Browse to the location were the backup file was saved in the prior steps. The name of the backup will be in the format of 'unit name - date' with an extension of abk.

3. Select the backup file, then proceed with the restore. After the backup file has been restored, exit AutoDutyPRO, skip making a backup at this time, and then restart the program.

4. Verify the data was restored by looking at the various lists (LISTS -> UNIT ALPHA ROSTER, etc.).
